Pumpkin carving and other stuff

The girls were so excited to carve the pumpkins we got at the Crown Center pumpkin patch! Elijah wasn't all into it, but I wanted a picture of him with the pumpkins anyway.

This picture cracks me up. I love Chloe and Elijah's expressions!

Watching daddy cut the pumpkins

The girls loved digging in the seeds and gunk with their hands....Elijah did not. He got the chills and started freaking out when we put his hands in the bowl of goo.

Laney poking holes

Chloe poking took her a little longer ;)

The girls with the finished product

Laughing at something outside

Yummy cookie!

Love that sweet smile!!

And on a different note, can I just say how scary this election coming up is...or how scary BO (Barack Obama) is. I mean, all these people just falling all over themseves for him, calling him the messiah. It's unreal. I know that God is in control and whoever gets in there is His will...His promises are the only thing we can cling to in scary times like this. He will take care of His children. That we can count on.
A friend emailed this to me this morning:
This will make you re-think:
A Trivia question in Sunday School: How long is the beast allowed to have authority in Revelations?
Revelations Chapter 13 tells us it is 42 months, and you know what that is. Almost a four-year term of a Presidency.
All I can say is 'Lord, Have mercy on us!'
According to The Book of Revelations the anti-Christ is: The anti-Christ will be a man, in his 40's, of MUSLIM descent, who will deceive the nations with persuasive language, and have a MASSIVE Christ-like appeal....the prophecy says that people will flock to him and he will promise false hope and world peace, and when he is in power, will destroy everything...Do we recognize this description?? I STRONGLY URGE each one of you to post this as many times as you can! Each opportunity that you have to send it to a friend or media it! I refuse to take a chance on this unknown candidate who came out of nowhere.
From: Dr. John Tisdale ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Dear Friends,
As I was listening to a news program last night, I watched in horror as Barack Obama made the statement with pride. . .'we are no longer a Christian nation; we are now a nation of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, . .' As with so many other statements I've heard him (and his wife) make, I never thought I'd see the day that I'd hear something like that from a presidential candidate in this nation. To think our forefathers fought and died for the right for our nation to be a Christian nation--and to have this man say with pride that we are no longer that. How far this nation has come from what our founding fathers intended it to be.
I hope that each of you will do what I'm doing now--send your concerns, written simply and sincerely, to the Christians on your email list. With God's help, and He is still in control of this nation and all else, we can show this man and the world in November that we are, indeed, still a Christian nation!
Please pray for our nation!

The scariest night of my life.

We walked into the house after picking the kids up from my mom's house. They stayed there while Mike and I went grocery shopping. Mike saw Elijah's cars all over the floor...a normal, everyday occurance around here...and asked him to pick them up. When Elijah said no, Mike sternly told him to not tell Daddy no and to pick up his cars. Well, Elijah did not like that AT ALL!! He started wailing and threw himself on the floor. Since he was 6 months old, he will occasionally hold his breath when he cries. Usually it's when he's hurt really bad, but on a couple of occasions, he's done it because he's mad. Once when we dropped him off at church and he didn't want to go in, he did it. So you can see where I'm going with this.... He started holding his breath and his eyes rolled back into his head, his arms go straight out, his hands curl in, and he turns blue. Around the time that he would normally just pass out and start breathing, I noticed something coming out of his mouth. It was vomit...he was puking, but he wasn't conscious enough to actually spit it out, it was just leaking out. He was silently choking on it. I was petrified. I ran to the phone and dialed those 3 horrifying numbers no mother ever wants to dial. I immediately asked them to send an ambulance, because my son wasn't breathing. I remember thinking, this can't be happening...I must be having a nightmare. I felt like I was out of my body watching myself. It was the scariest thing ever! Meanwhile, Mike is holding him, trying to remember what he learned in CPR class. He turns Elijah over and starts hitting him on the back, hoping to dislodge whatever is in there. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Mike said that he thought he was breathing. I was still on the phone with the dispatcher at this point (being totally hysterical) and she kept asking me questions about what was going on. Elijah started wimpering and I knew that was a good sign, at least he was breathing. All of the sudden his whole body flinched, his eyes got as big as saucers, and he just started crying. I think he came too, and he was scared. Right after that, the police officers showed up and said that the paramedics were a couple minutes away. They showed up and checked him out...listened to his heart and lungs and made sure his oxygen saturation was good (everything was fine) and just kind of watched him. He was VERY lethargic after the whole situation, and that's not like him at all, so they were a little concerned. I told them I would take him to the hospital, rather than have them take him and have to pay $2000 or whatever... I ended up not taking him, because he started acting fine. I'm just so thankful to our almighty God for saving his precious little life. I don't know how many times I cried out "Please God!!" when I was on the phone with the dispatcher. I made sure to thank Him out loud too, when we realized he was breathing. Just makes you think about how fast our lives can change...literally in a second, it can turn upside down. I know I'll be hugging my kids a little tighter from now on! Thank you so much Father for watching over your precious Elijah and for sparing his life!!!

Crown Center Pumpkin Patch

We took the kids to Crown Center on Saturday for their pumpkin patch, and we had a great time! The kids wore their costumes (we're getting as much use out of them as we can with how ridiculously expensive they are). Laney wore a 50's poodle skirt outfit, Chloe was a cheerleader and Elijah was Yoda. We left Isaac with Grandma, because we figured that he wouldn't really care about it, and I'm glad we did, because he would have been terribly bored waiting for 20 minutes for the puppet show to start. We also were able to get their pumpkins there, rather than at walmart, which is where we usually get them... The girls picked out some good ones and we'regonna carve them this weekend. Here's just some of the many pictures we...or better yet, I took...I can't help it, okay? :) Thank goodness for digital cameras right? :D

This was actually the first time Elijah has ever rode a pony. He loved it! He was too distracted to look at me for a picture though.

My little Yoda

The puppet show was a little odd. All the kids there got a little bored after the first 10 minutes of them just dancing the puppets around to music. I think they were expecting a talking puppet show.

Cute little baby monkey. The girls thought it was hilarious that he was wearing a diaper.

The cutest little baby camel and baby zebra I've ever seen! :)

Happy Fall!!!

P.S. My baby boy will be 1 year old in 2 days!!!! Can it be?!?!?

Stacy and baby Isaac

I've been following a blog for a while now...the woman's name is Stacy, and she's pregnant with a baby boy, whom her and her husband have named Isaac. They found out around 12 weeks that he had fatal birth defects. Tomorrow she will be having a c-section to deliver her precious boy. Throughout her blog, He Will Carry Me, she has had the most wonderful testimony through this whole journey. Please keep her and your husband in your prayers as they meet their little boy tomorrow...and it's never too late to ask for a miracle, if it's God's will. We know He is able!
